Original L J G Stickley Morris Rocker
Original vintage L.&J.G. Stickley Morris rocking chair with three adjustable positions. The L.&J.G. Stickley Morris rocker was a good seller for the firm 100 years ago and for good reason. It not only has the advantage of the various seat back positions like a Morris chair, but the low seat design, deep seat cushion and the extra tall back cushion make it a comfortable chair for a large range of body types. It is also one of very few forms that were produced with a steel spring back cushion along with the spring seat cushion. In my opinion, it is one of the most comfortable chairs produced during the Arts & Crafts period. The chair is in very good structural condition with an old refinish, unsigned. The chair has been reupholstered with leather at some time and the back cushion springs were not used, the original spring seat cushion remains. Shown next to a Handel floor lamp and seated on one of a variety of quality Arts & Crafts replica carpets available at our shop, all made with New Zealand wool and certified free of child labor.
